Career Tools

  • Time is moving on... graduation is approaching fast and panic starts to set in - will you ever find a job?
  • Time is moving on... you're stuck doing the same thing day in day out with little thanks or reward - is this it?

Well you have come to the right place to change things for the better. This section of our site aims to give you some ideas on careers in sport and ways in which to access them.

1. Think broadly about sport

  • OK, you might have dreamed that one day you would compete for your County and this realistically may well not be attainable! But think again. A lot of team work goes into getting athletes into a position to compete - there are coaches, physios, nutritionalists, fitness experts, account managers, administrators, equipment manufacturers, lawyers, accountants, media teams, managers, marketing consultants, event coordinators, sponsors, stadium officials and groundsmen.

2. Identify your prefered sports environment

  • Think about where and what environment you would like to work in - a large corporation, an educational establishment, a governing body, a small club, a large health and fitness complex. Do you want to work in a big city or would you rather work in a more rural location? Within the UK or aboard?

3. Research your options

  • Once things become clearer, find out more information - what exactly is available for someone with your qualifications - write to key organisations asking for advice - visit your local Career Centre - go to career fairs and sports conferences
  • Browse through our featured companies link to their sites and see if you would like to work for them
  • Consider further education and training to build up your skills and experience
